Spotlight On: The Tortoise and His Raincoat

What better way to show my love for Awesome People Doing Amazing Things than to share it with the rest of the world. So every now and again, when I find myself left in awe of someone’s absolute brilliance, I will feature them in a Spotlight On post. This first post goes out to dear friend whom I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for over 10 years.

Nat Evans is currently in the middle of a 2,600 mile musical journey.

The Tortoise and the Raincoat: Music for a Very Long Walk, is a 2,600 mile journey from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Crest Trail. Nat will be writing new work while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, collaborating with 8 West Coast composers along the way, and releasing all these new works in 2015 on Quakebasket Records.

Nat writes concert music for various mixed chamber ensembles, distinctive electro-acoustic music, and site-specific music events that fuse nature, community and subjectivity of experience. His Sunset Music project has been featured in previous Summer in the City posts. And after an amazingly successful fundraising effort through Hatchfund, Nat finds himself living the dream on the Pacific Trail.
